Does God have a plan for me? Or does the universe simply find its own equilibrium, and I'm just along for the ride?
Perhaps you've asked just that. If you have, you're in the right place. That's the exact question we're talking.
Before we jump into the main event, we want to remind you to read all the content on this page because there's a fun quiz at the end. Taking it will help you remember the ideas better.
So you ready? Let's find out what God's plan for you looks like!

This question is more complex than you might think. When you ask, "Does God have a plan for me?", you can't start there. You have to go back a ways -- a really long way, actually.
God's plan for your life began before you were born. In fact, it began before anyone was born. Every plan finds its birth in the birth of all creation.
Before the world began, God already knew what He would accomplish. Scripture describes His purpose as something set “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4). He formed His plan through His eternal wisdom, rooting it in His perfect character.
Nothing about God’s plan is accidental or reactive. Long before creation, He knew the story He would write. It would center on His Son (Ephesians 1:5). It would include the redemption of the human race with all creation (Ephesians 1:14). He would provide salvation for the people He would call to Himself through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29-30).
God’s plan did not emerge in response to anything we did. It was His choice and began in His heart before time itself existed. His works were “finished from the foundation of the world” (Hebrews 4:3), and Christ was “foreknown before the foundation of the world” (1 Peter 1:20).
This means God’s purpose is steady, unchanging, and anchored in His eternal wisdom. When we talk about God having a plan, we are talking about something older than the universe and more certain than anything we can see because it is rooted in His choice. It's as changeless as He is (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; James 1:17).
I know. That was a lot to take in. But it's all important.
Why? Because if we didn't understand that God has a sure plan that never wavers, we might get the wrong idea. With this filter, we get a very different view of human history. We see God involved in everything.
The Bible reinforces this view.
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture shows God steadily moving history toward His intended goal. Even when the world appears chaotic, God is not improvising.

That's another great question. Let's answer that one with what we've learned about God so far.
God’s plan is not only cosmic or historical. It is deeply personal. Humanity was created with intention and value, formed in the image of God (Genesis 1:26–27). We were given life by His breath (Genesis 2:7).
This was all part of God's plan. From the beginning, He has always desired a people who know Him, walk with Him, and reflect His character in the world. You are not an afterthought in God’s design. You are part of the story He is writing. He crafted it with purpose and invites us into relationship with Him.
How you fit in is your choice. How do you do this? Let's look at one more very important part of the puzzle before we finish.
So we began with asking the important question, "Does God have a plan for me?" In doing this, we discovered God always has a plan. That plan includes you and me in some way.
Here's the kicker. There's an important element of God's plan we need to know. Only by accepting this part of the plan can we really find peace in God's plan for us.
God’s eternal purpose, the one we've already talked about, centers on His Son. When we put our trust in Jesus, we move from simply existing within God’s plan to actively participating in it.
In Christ, we are adopted into God’s family (Ephesians 1:5). We discover that God has prepared good works for us to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). We learn that He is working all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Faith in Jesus is not merely a spiritual decision. It's the doorway into the life God designed before the world began.
What's the answer to our question, "Does God have a plan for my life?" The answer is a resounding yes.
God’s eternal plan includes you. But you're not a background character. You're a human being with God's breath in your lungs. You're someone He intentionally created, loves, and invites into His redemptive work.
His plan for you begins with salvation in Christ and continues as He shapes your life. This isn't an opportunity He gave to animals or even the angels (Hebrews 2:16). He invites you to experience His love right now.
When you walk with Jesus, you discover that God’s plan is not only real — it is good, wise, and filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Put your faith in Jesus Christ, His Son, today.
In this and this alone, you will find God's true plan completed.
God bless.
