New life in Jesus Christ. It's kind of an odd phrase. I mean, what does it mean? How can you be old but still have new life?
Is that even possible? That's what we're going to study in our next Bite-Sized Bible course, New Life in Jesus Christ.
Before we get into the study, make sure to take advantage of the resources we offer. One of those is quizzes at the end of each lesson. Quizzes do more than test your knowledge. They challenge you. They pry facts you didn't even know you had out of the darkest recesses of your memory.
Testing is good. God uses it to make us better (James 1:2-3).
Point? Make sure to take the quizzes. They're there to help you.
Now, let's look at what this study is all about.
New Life in Jesus Christ
Many people assume Christianity is about becoming more religious. Maybe if I try harder, God will notice. It's a matter of turning over a new leaf.
That's not true at all.
Scripture says our need is far deeper. We are “dead” in our sins and separated from God, unable to rescue ourselves. If that's true, then what we need most is more than just a spiritual tune‑up. We need a new kind of life that only God can give.
New life in Jesus Christ is the Bible’s way of describing God’s work, from beginning to end. He changes spiritually dead people, giving them a living relationship with himself through his Son.
This Bite‑Sized study will unpack what that means and why it matters for your everyday walk with God.

Before we get into the study itself, let's set the table. The Bible is honest about our human condition. By nature, we rebel against God. We like following our own way instead of His.
Because of this attitude, we stand under God's just judgment. We may be physically alive, active, and religious, but spiritually we are lifeless toward God.
What can dead people do? The answer is simple. Nothing.
Dead people can't make themselves alive. In the same way, no amount of good works, religious activity, or self‑improvement can overcome spiritual death. There's no way we can erase our guilt before a holy God.
Left to ourselves, we would remain separated from him forever. How does God overcome that in our lives? That's what this study is all about.
The good news of the gospel is that God did not leave us there. In love, He sent His Son to live, die, and rise again. Because of this, sinners can be forgiven and reconciled to Him. But Jesus not only provides forgiveness. He also brings new life.
In three lessons, we're going to briefly look at this idea from God's Word. The course looks like this:
Where does new life in Jesus Christ actually begin? In this first lesson, we’ll look at what the Bible calls “new birth” or “regeneration” (John 3:3–8; Titus 3:5). Instead of asking us to fix ourselves, God gives life to people who are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:4–5).

If God has given us new life, what changes? Lesson 2 explores what it means to be “in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The New Testament often describes believers this way, but many of us are not sure what that language means. We'll tackle this confusing but important phrase.

Where is this new life headed? In the final lesson, we’ll consider God’s great goal for His people. He is constantly conforming us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). Salvation is more than God saving us from judgment. Over time, the Holy Spirit grows in us the family likeness of Christ—things (Galatians 5:22–23). This lifelong process impacts us as we live out our lives on this planet.

This is really the issue. New life in Jesus Christ is important. In fact, it's the most important concept in the universe. It's the difference between a pleasant eternity and eternal punishment.
Don't get me wrong. It's not what you do. Religion without new life in Jesus Christ is just like having no religion at all. Those who try to win their approval before God will suffer the same fate as those who never try at all or refuse to believe in God.
The truth is, we need Jesus. We need His sacrifice for our sins. We need the love, grace and mercy of God poured out on us. We need the cross. We need the gospel. We need to believe in Jesus Christ.
We need new life in Jesus Christ. The only way we can get that is by believing in Jesus Christ, God's Son. He is the only way to heaven (John 14:6).
Have you put your trust in Jesus? If not, believe in Him today. He's the only One who can truly save your soul from the just punishment you deserve. He's provided new life.
Choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19). God bless.
