Looking for the Best Bible Verses?

Can we really know what the best Bible verses are? I mean, all of God's Word is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16). So wouldn't that mean that all verses are the same?

Well, yes and no. Let me explain.

Certainly, all Scripture is equally valuable. But we humans sometimes see value in verses that get us through difficult situations. In that moment, we may "claim a verse." Those verses become special to us and become the best Bible verses for our situation.

That's all we mean. So scroll down to the widget below. You can enter the topic in the search box and find it easily.

A Brief Word on the Best Bible Verses

To be honest, I was never a big fan of "claiming a verse" or choosing a "life verse." There were so many good ones, I just couldn't pick one!

Caldor Fire

That all changed in 2021. The Caldor Fire ripped through our town of Grizzly Flats. Virtually nothing was left. We lost our house, most of our possessions, every church building and most of our community.

It was difficult to say the least. Losing everything isn't easy. Not at all.

It was then that the Lord led both my wife and me to read and verse and take it to heart. I don't know if she came up with it first or I did.

It was Psalm 115:3.

"Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases."

The Caldor Fire rocked our very existence. God stabilized our lives with this one simple verse. We've kept this verse very near and dear to us.

We are rebuilding. Our home. The church building. But God is constantly building up our lives through His Word.

And He uses Psalm 115:3 often.

When things get difficult, we default to Psalm 115:3. When things are easy, we default to Psalm 115:3. When things get loud, we fly to that verse. When things are quiet we go to that verse.

It's not our life verse. But that verse to us is life. God's Holy Spirit used His Word to sustain us. His means of grace got us through and still does.

And we fully appreciate what God has done, is doing and will do. We defer to His sovereign will. We don't want His job. We submit to His will.

So don't feel like you have to choose what you think the best Bible verses are. Who knows? Maybe God will choose for you like He did with us.

Whatever the case, love God and grow closer to Him each day as you study His Word. Only that will comfort you in the ways you need. The Word of God is sufficient.
